Is the winter holiday season your favorite time of year? Are you you ready to say goodbye to 2021 and welcome 2022? As you reflect on this year and consider your new year’s resolutions, why not consider giving back and end this year making an impact in our community.

This year’s Christmas may be one to remember as it comes early for some of our city’s vulnerable communities through the efforts of these amazing impact organizations. Many individuals and businesses give back to the community during this time. As the holidays are fast approaching, consider supporting these important initiatives.

1. Cambodian Children’s Fund: Creating Families, Maintaining Families Programme

Cambodian Children’s Fund (CCF) works with children and families living in some of the most deprived communities in Cambodia through grassroots services delivered directly on the ground in the communities where it is needed most. CCF has helped children and families escape the cycle of poverty.

Creating Families, Maintaining Families is a programme that supports some of the most vulnerable children in CCF’s kinship, foster care, and independent living arrangements. Without intervention, these children would be in vulnerable situations, at risk of domestic violence, abuse, trafficking, and child labour.  Help provide hope to these children, support their cause.

They work with people experiencing homelessness to help them settle in a safe home, restore their mental and physical wellbeing, build their self-esteem, increase their social capital and discover their purpose.

This Christmas, they are raising funds to support eight homeless individuals transform their lives through employment. Play your part in ending homelessness and make significant impact in someone’s life by supporting their campaign.

Habitat HK, while a new member of SparkRaise, has been in our city for 17 years. Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort. The housing organisation has since grown to become a leading global non-profit working in more than 70 countries. Habitat works locally in Hong Kong and across the Asia-Pacific region to help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves.

Their Project Home Works: Deep Cleaning Campaign aims to bring young leaders and volunteers together in Hong Kong to learn about the double ageing phenomenon in Hong Kong, inter-generational co-living and raise funds to support vulnerable elderly people living in substandard housing.   Support our eldery and housing, support their campaign.

Year End Bonus!

I did mention that this year’s holiday season is something worth remembering, right? This year, we partner with the only impact organization securing refugee rights within our region through a strong network of dedicated member NGOs advancing the rights and wellbeing of refugees, Asia Pacific Refugee Rights Network (APRRN). Since 2008 they have continued to work tirelessly to promote and advance the rights of refugees in our region.

International Human Rights Day is observed every 10th of December.  I’d like to think that we have made significant improvements as humans, so why not invest beyond charity, towards inclusion and rights protection, by supporting their first crowdfunding campaign? Start your giving now. Today.
